IHHT Therapy
To support full body cell regeneration
IHHT Therapie – Training For Your Cells
IHHT – simulated altitude training | Do you want to stay healthy in the long term and tackle the first symptoms of illness quickly and effectively? Or do you want to significantly increase your athletic performance or maintain your peak performance? Push your metabolism and the energy of your cells like a top athlete. Altitude training is a biohack that professional athletes have long sworn by.
The ultimate performance kick – simply sitting down!
As a former competitive athlete, Alexander Sahmel knows the secrets of professional sports! At the Swiss Center for health & Longevity we make sure that you benefit from this knowledge.
Simulated altitude training
During altitude training, athletes train performance and endurance at an altitude of at least 2000 m above sea level. Due to the low air pressure at these altitudes, the air is “thinner” – i.e. it contains less oxygen than in the lowlands. This means that the cells of the body are exposed to a slight lack of oxygen at high altitudes. This condition is called hypoxia. This is why altitude training is also called hypoxia training.
The Olympians go to high altitudes to train because this hypoxia effect means that their bodies are significantly more efficient when they return to normal. This positive training effect can decide whether they win gold or silver.
The effect of hypoxia can be achieved by spending a certain amount of time at high altitudes – but even in Switzerland this is probably not very practical for people who work. That’s why we offer simulated altitude training at the Swiss Center for Health & Longevity. Wonderfully comfortable in a seated position. With a view of the lake!
Breathe for life!
IHHT Therapy
Researchers Kaelin, Ratcliffe and Semenza took a closer look at the diverse reactions of our cells to hypoxia and were awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2019 for their findings on the adaptation of cells to the respective oxygen supply.

Nobel Prize worthy medicine
They discovered that the mitochondria in particular, and thus the oxygen supply to our organism, are significantly optimized, which increases performance. Their research results form the basis of interval hypoxia-hyperoxia therapy – IHHT therapy for short.
IHHT therapy
for more active mitochondria
During IHHT therapy, you will be given alternately low-oxygen air (hypoxia) and high-oxygen air (hyperoxia) for a few minutes via a breathing mask. This simulates the effects of training at high altitude. The body adapts to the low-oxygen air and thus becomes more efficient in the supply of oxygen through the blood.
This leads to a considerable increase in performance and increases your resistance. The fluctuating oxygen content also has a direct effect on the mitochondria – and therefore on your energy supply. Damaged and outdated mitochondria perish and make room for healthy mitochondria.
What exactly happens during an
IHHT therapy?
The change between low-oxygen and oxygen-rich air during IHHT therapy triggers biochemical processes and a chain of positive reactions in the body’s cells. These cause, among other things, improved fat burning and blood circulation and a reduction in inflammation. IHHT has been used successfully for many years as a method of treating impaired energy metabolism and, in particular, a wide range of chronic illnesses.
