The path to neuroplasticity

Meditation As The Ultimative Biohack

Meditation & neuroplasticity

Our brain is designed to adapt quickly to new conditions. More than any other organ in your body, it can self-optimize, grow, rewire and evolve. Do you want a better memory, more clarity and greater mental speed? Regular meditation stimulates neuroplasticity and therefore the development of your brain.

Contrary to what was long believed, our potential is not fixed from birth. Rather, we can strengthen and improve our brain every day in ways that were previously thought impossible.

This neuroplasticity is the reason why our brain can heal itself. Without medication. Without surgery. In his book “The Brain´s Way of Healing”, brain researcher Norman Doidge describes impressive stories of people diagnosed as incurable who alleviate the symptoms of serious diseases such as Parkinson’s or MS – or even become symptom-free again.

It is very simple things like light, warmth, movement and above all meditation that improve the structures of our brain – it heals itself.

Meditation – Brain Changer No. 1.

Meditating for more brain power

We now know that the practice of meditation triggers neuroplasticity. It can be as simple as that: Sitting around, doing nothing, thinking nothing – improving brain performance. What are your excuses? We recommend: If you want to live your life longer, healthier and with the best mental vitality and performance, you should meditate every day!

Meditation for health and longevity

Consistent meditation practice leads to an improvement in attention, working memory, spatial skills and long-term memory. There is also evidence to suggest that meditation can even improve memory by promoting structural changes in the hippocampus. Since the hippocampus is one of the few regions of the brain that continues to produce new neurons in adulthood – a process known as neurogenesis – meditation may be able to stimulate the birth of new neurons and thus further improve our memory performance.

Biohack Meditation

The best way to build your brain
As easy as it may sound to meditate, the alpha or theta state is not immediately accessible to everyone. If you find it difficult to meditate on a daily basis, we recommend a small device. A biohack for meditation beginners, so to speak. This device measures your brainwave patterns using a technique called electroencephalography (EEG) and gives you neurofeedback. The aim is to teach you how to put yourself into different mental states of calm.

The Fundamentals of Meditation

Peace and relaxation in your everyday life

In our hectic world, where everyday life is often characterized by stress, hectic and constant distraction, many people long for a moment of calm and inner peace. So why not meditate regularly? Meditation is a practice in which you focus your attention on a particular thought, object, sound or simply your own breath. The aim is to calm the mind, create inner clarity and ultimately achieve a state of inner peace. Here are some basic steps to get started:

Find a place where you can be undisturbed. Be it in your home, in nature or on our NeuroRelaxation lounger at the Swiss Center for Heath & Longevity.

Sit comfortably, preferably on a cushion or chair, with an upright posture. You can also meditate lying down if this is more comfortable for you. But don’t fall asleep!

Concentrate on your breath. Breathe in and out calmly and evenly. This helps to calm and center the mind.

Choose a focus on which you would like to direct your attention towards. This can be your breath, a mantra (a repeated word or phrase), a candle or another object.

Let thoughts come and go without allowing yourself to be carried away by them. Be patient and mindful of your feelings and thoughts.

The key factors of meditation are continuity and regularity. Try to meditate for a few minutes every day to achieve the best results. By the way, we can recognize these in your blood values!
