Nutritional supplements
Trillions of chemical reactions take place in our body every second. Each one requires an enzyme as a helper, and each enzyme in turn needs its own helper: a coenzyme. Vitamins and minerals are these coenzymes that keep the wheels turning in our complex metabolic processes. These micronutrients are therefore essential for our survival: we cannot live without them. The special thing about them is that our body cannot produce them itself; they have to be supplied with food or, like vitamin D, metabolized through the skin under UV radiation.

Supplements
The question of whether nutritional supplements are really necessary is justified. After all, we should be able to get all the nutrients we need from our diet. But the reality is different.
Nutrient deficiency is widespread
In the course of his career as a doctor, Alexander Sahmel has already analyzed over 20,000 blood counts. Mostly from rather health-conscious patients. And yet it became clear that gaps and deficiencies in micronutrient supply are omnipresent. This is because in our fast-paced world, many people resort to processed foods that are often poor in essential nutrients.
An unbalanced diet can lead to nutrient deficiencies. Especially when ideal nutrient levels are assumed to be the optimal level of supply.
Low nutritional value
Unfortunately, a healthy diet today is no longer sufficient to provide us with an adequate supply of all micronutrients. Due to the industrialization of agriculture and inappropriate animal husbandry, the soil, plants, vegetables and cereals are poor in nutrients – and therefore often the animals and their meat as well.
Environmental pollution, pesticides and other factors can also affect the nutrient content of food. For example, substances such as glyphosate bind vital inorganic minerals (e.g. selenium) in the soil, thereby exacerbating the deficiency. Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicide in Switzerland.
There are many reasons for a lack of vital substances
Diseases

Certain diseases or health conditions can disrupt the absorption and utilization of nutrients. One example of this is leaky gut syndrome, in which the absorption of vitamins and minerals in the intestine is impaired.
Stress

Chronic stress is a real nutrient robber. It increases the need for certain nutrients and at the same time impairs their absorption and metabolism in the body.
Lifestyle factors

Smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, a high-carbohydrate diet, too little exercise, poor sleeping habits and a generally unhealthy lifestyle also contribute to an undersupply of nutrients in the body.
Full supply. Full energy!
The deficiency of vital micronutrients usually begins insidiously and often remains undetected. For example, 84% of Europeans have a vitamin D deficiency – especially the Swiss. The consequences of a lack of vital nutrients can be felt throughout the body. They range from an increased susceptibility to infections, nervous complaints and little desire for sex, migraines to exhaustion and depression or even multiple organ problems and chronic illnesses.

Supplements – measure, supplement, control
The art lies in the selection, the correct dosage and the correct intake or combination of food supplements – especially if we want to penetrate into therapeutically effective areas.
Only in the rarest of cases will the manufacturer’s dosage information match the quantities that you really need individually. Detailed measurements, analyses and tests – such as those we carry out in blood tuning – tell us exactly what and how much you need.
Our modern lifestyles, environmental factors, diseases and medications pose challenges that make dietary supplements & supplements necessary.
The two dimensions of food supplements
At the Swiss Center for Health & Longevity, we view dietary supplements in two ways: firstly – in terms of prevention – as the basic nutrients that everyone needs to live to their full potential, life energy and performance. Secondly, as a dimension of targeted supplementation, which should be precisely tailored to your individual needs. We have to take into account a complex interplay of factors such as your genetics, your age, your lifestyle and imbalances in your biological networks or systems.

Please note:
Not all dietary supplements are the same. Production is not regulated. At the Swiss Center for Health & Longevity, we only recommend products from manufacturers that we have tested ourselves and whose high quality standards we have known, in some cases for decades. These supplements guarantee the best bioavailability and active forms of nutrients. They are free from fillers, additives, colorants and preservatives.
We do not make compromises when it comes to your health!
